Wolves to go head to head with Wildcats
Warrington Wolves will host Wakefield Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
Both teams have talent right across the park and this weekend's fixture is set to serve up some classic head-to-heads.
With only four games of the regular season remaining both teams have everything to play for as the Wolves continue to battle it out for top spot and the Wildcats aim to regain a top eight position ahead of the play-offs.
Joel Monaghan v Peter Fox
The battle of the touchline will see Joel Monaghan and Peter Fox square up with one another. The Australian has 63 tries in 64 Super League games for Warrington but former Hull KR winger Fox is only 3 behind Monaghan's 2013 tally on 17. Monaghan has the height and weight advantages over his rival, standing at 190cm and 102kg compared to Fox at 183cm and 84kg. But the Wakefield wing man has made an impressive 2,412 metres so far this season compared to Monaghan's 1,872.
Richie Myler v Tim Smith
In the halves, Tim Smith poses the main threat to the Warrington defence. Although his opposite number Richie Myler has the upper hand on tries (12 compared to 2) and assists (23 to 18), Smith has been more active with the boot, making 117 attacking kicks against Myler's 78. Having both made 20 plus appearances, Myler leads the way in terms of tackles with 342 compared to the former Wigan man's 291.
Micky Higham v Paul Aiton
At hooker, Paul Aiton will be a defensive machine. His tally of 800 Super League tackles is only bettered by Hull's Danny Houghton and Salford second rower Andrew Dixon, while Higham has 519 to his name. Higham has been in sensational form for Warrington this term, and his metres tally of 1723 just pips Aiton's total of 1719. The pair are of very similar size, both standing at 175cm and Higham weighing only 2kg less than his Papua New Guinean opponent. The tussle should see a lot of scooting from dummy half, with Higham having 260 such runs to his name while Aiton has made 241.
