Wolves host Academy Tour Match
Warrington Wolves Academy Select will host a touring Australian representative side at The Halliwell Jones Stadium next month.
A team of Wolves' Academy players will face the NRL Group 6 U18 Representative Team on Friday 4th October at 7.30pm; the eve of this year's Super League Grand Final.
This is an exciting opportunity for players within the Wolves' Academy set-up as well as all Rugby League fans from across the borough; giving them the unique chance to watch the rising stars from both sides of the world.
Group 6 Rugby League is a division of the Country Rugby League of New South Wales. The first competition commenced in Group 6 prior to the First World War and had an eight-team competition. Once the war was over the competition reformed and this year sees some of the clubs celebrating 100 years.
The Group consists of some 20 clubs having teams from Under 6 to First Grade divided into senior and junior leagues. Each year the representative teams of the Group play in competitions against other areas within the boundaries of the Country Rugby League.
Ben Lazenby, Wolves' player performance manager, said: "This is a great opportunity for all Warrington Wolves fans to celebrate the year of Rugby League that we have had but also to see the next generation of junior players progressing through the ranks. For many it will be their first time playing at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in front of, what we hope will be, a large home crowd."
Entry on the day will be priced at £3 adults and £1 juniors.
