Wolves Help Tackle Mens Health

A local initiative that could be a catalyst for towns and cities acorss the country will be launched on Saturday 22nd July at Wilderspool Stadium. The "Tackling Health" initiative was the winner of a Queens Nursing Institute award for innovative practice. The institute's support has helped tremendously in reinforcing the value of this schemes endeavour to promote and improve health locally. The challenge will be to promote 'Health Messages' to men in language that they understand and so encourage them to think more about their personal lifestyle and well being. The launch will be centred around a 7's rugby competition for 12 local amateur rugby teams who as part of this initiative will be engaged in finding out more about how they can keep fit and healthy. "The local amateur rugby teams offered a great challenge to promote health through sport", said Dawn Leicester. "By targetting this group of men we hope to influence the many young boys coming into sport and cascade the messages through the players, their families and friends". The local community, players families and friends are being encouraged to come along to what will be a fun filled afternoon, finding out about health and fitness, meeting the Warrington Wolves players and taking part in a host of family activities.
