Wolves Help Launch Proof of Age
The Wolves have helped launch a proof of age card to combat confusion over the ages of young people. Warrington Borough Council launched the scheme with the help of Wolves' players Tawera Nikau and Alan Hunte, at Sir Thomas Boteler High School. Altogether, 12 Warrington High Schools will take on board the scheme, as well as Warrington Collegiate and Priestley College. It is hoped the card, which is endorsed by Central Government, will play a vital role in ensuring that age restricted products are only sold to those who are legally entitled to buy them. It is also hoped that it will help stop under age cigarette sales, as well as help those who may look younger than they are to prove their age.The success of VALIDATE UK depends upon a partnership approach and the commitment of Trading Standards, retailers, schools, health promotion specialists, communty safety officers, police, sponsors and young people. VALIDATE UK is a community thing! Warrington Wolves are 100% behind the scheme."The Club is keen to support community issues like this. We want to be involved in helping young people develop an active interest in healthy pursuits rather than be caught up drinking or smoking at an early age."Further details on VALIDATE cards are available on 01925 442140 or on VALIDATE UK's websitewww.validateuk.co.uk
