Service Area Elite Development Camps

For many players this will be the first step on the Performance Pathway and although delivered through the Warrington and Cheshire Service Area structures, Warrington Wolves Youth Development Department will be the main expertise and support mechanism for these Development Camps. The Service Area Elite Development Camps will fit in around the junior players' community commitments at school and at clubs and will be limited to a maximum of one training session a week (the older age groups may have an additional home programme for their athletic development).

The main focus and aims of these camps is outlined below:

  • Identifying and developing good people: In line with the philosophies outlined in Chapter 1.3.
  • Developing athletic ability: Agility, balance, flexibility, speed, coordination, hand eye coordination, functional movements, developing muscular control, basic strength principles and building blocks of lifting techniques.
  • Developing football skills: Basic and essential core football skills, complimented by the athletic development programme, developing basic principles of the game. Supported by the Warrington Wolves Skills Building Blocks and Performance Skills DVD.
  • Educating the person: Initial education sessions to support the development of the qualities, playing ability and physical progressions relevant to the stage of the individual.
