PHILIP WILLIAMS & CO PRIMARY SCHOOL 7'S COMPETITION

No stranger to community involvement and a great believer in developing young talent, The Foundation are delighted that Philip Williams & Co are to continue their support of the Primary Schools 7's Competition for 2007.
On 9th April at the Super League fixture versus Huddersfield Giants, the first of this season's 7's Competition fixtures were held at The Halliwell Jones Stadium with St. Andrew's Primary taking on Stockton Heath Primary - Stockton Heath eventually coming out on top of a closely contested game.
The longest running pre-match competition in Rugby League and possibly across all sport, this competition is now in its 32nd year and since its inception has produced the talents of Mike Wainwright, Steven Pickersgill, Chris Riley, Mike Cooper and Anthony Rourke.
Follow the progress of the Competition throughout the rest of the season and watch out for some of the stars of the future.
In 2006 Philip Williams & Co put their name to the Wolves Primary School 7's competition and were proud to be devloping young talent with the wolves Foundation.
This competition has produced the talents of Mike Wainwright, Steven Pickersgill and Chris Riley plus new young guns Mike Cooper and Anthony Rourke. So keep your eye on the future and show your support for the Philip Williams 7's. The future's bright the future's Primrose and Blue.
As if there was not enough excitement at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on 23rd July with the wonderful Wolves victory over the resurgent Wigan, the pre-match Primary School 7's, now sponsored by Philip Williams Insurance Management and organised by the Wolves Foundation, reached a dramatic climax.
Following a record entry of 36 primary Schools, Stockton Heath and Barrow Hall had battled their way through to the final of the oldest Curtain-Raiser in Super League. The trophy seemed to be destined for Barrow Hall Lane as they powered into a 4 tries to 2 lead. Stockton Heath then mounted the 'mother of all comebacks' to score an equalising try with the very last play of the game.
The teams played a sudden death 'Golden Point' extra time in the half time period with Barrow Hall plunging over to seal a pulsating victory.

In the Clarrie Owen Plate final for schools new to Rugby League and those schools eliminated in the early stages of the Philip Williams Trophy, St Stephens pipped Our Lady's in another enthralling spectacle.
A big Thank You to all the schools who entered both competitions, and we look forward to seeing you in Engage Super League XII!
