Say YES to the People's Stadium
Wolves supremo Peter Deakin urges Wolves fans on this website to say "YES" to the proposed new stadium:The planning application for a new stadium on the former Tetley Walker brewery site was submitted on 31 May 2000. This was a joint application with the supermarket giants, Tesco. We understand that the planning committee will hear the application on 2 August 2000. It is essential to the future of Warrington Wolves that the application is successful. Only then can we consider the make-up of the stadium, i.e. capacity, seating, facilities etc.Warrington Wolves need the new stadium to secure the future of the club in Super League. We have listened to the views of the fans in their desire for a town centre location. After much behind the scenes work this is now close to fruition. However for the stadium to become a reality we require you to publicly voice your support. This should be done by a personal letter from you to:Mr A. StephensonDirector of Community ServicesWarrington Borough CouncilCommunity Services DepartmentNew Town HouseButtermarket StreetWarringtonWA1 2NHIt is imperative that as many people as possible write to the Community Services Director to express their support for the new stadium. We must demonstrate that there is an overwhelming desire from the community of Warrington for a stadium on the old brewery site. The future of Super League in Warrington rests upon the success of this planning application. So please do write and let the Council know of your support. Our Town, Our Team, Our Stadium, Your Future.Come On You Wire!Peter DeakinSupporters are also asked to e-mail the club when they have sent a letter of support for the planning application:info@wwrlfc.co.uk.
