Myler: Exciting Times

#extraordinaryrugby

@wolvesrl v @DragonsOfficiel

Halfback Richie Myler scored a memorable try against local rivals Wigan Warriors last week but he says the team are still looking for improvement in these early stages of the new season.

"Any game against Wigan is always a bruiser and in front of a full, packed-out crowd at the DW it was a great game. It's always good to score a try but at the end of the day we drew and we were a bit disappointed with some aspects of our game so we want to kick on this week."

Next up for the Wolves are the French outfit the Catalan Dragons, a side Richie can see causing a few problems for teams throughout the season.

"They are a very physical side and a very skilful one too, especially with Brent Webb there this year with his influx at full back, it's going to be tough game.

"They've got some great players and the French influence they have over there as well is still very strong and we are in for a challenge."

Looking to the season ahead Richie is keen to retain his spot in the 17 each week.

"We got to two finals last year which was great for us but we want to build on that week in, week out again this season. We've not signed anyone from outside the club, and the young players who have stepped up know our systems and how we play so it's exciting times.

"There's pressure and competition for places all over the park which is making it hard and a challenge to stay in the team; one little slip up and you are out of the team but that's why we're looking forward to the year ahead."

And with the World Cup come the end of the year competition is high across the sport as well.

"That's why we're going to see some great rugby played throughout the year with people fighting to get in the World Cup squads. But we've got a great squad at Warrington and you have to fight as much as you can to stay in the team here (first and foremost)."

Match tickets are still available for the Catalan home tie this Friday night at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, on sale in WolfWare and on 08448 11 11 76.
