Myler hails competition for places
England half-back Richie Myler has hailed the competition for places in the England team, and believes that whichever group of players is selected for matches at Rugby League World Cup 2013, they'll be capable of earning success.
Myler started at half-back alongside Kevin Sinfield for the victory over the Exiles on Friday evening, and caught the eye through passages of confident attacking play.
But the Wolves star is only too aware of the competition for places he must overcome to tie down his place in Steve McNamara's side for this autumn's tournament.
"The World Cup is in the back of everybody's minds, but the Origin match was first up, and we saw 17 men out there on Friday night who were very proud to be playing," said Myler.
"There's a great competition for places in the halves, and that pressure on individuals to perform, as it really bring the best out of everyone.
"We can safely say that whichever team is picked against Australia on October 26 will be champing at the bit to get out there and do England proud."
Myler was in camp with the rest of the Elite Training Squad at their state-of-the-art Loughborough facility last week.
And the former Salford man believes the past week has marked the first step England's quest for glory this year.
"It was great to have the boys together in camp and make the most of that opportunity to run through some moves. We all enjoy it.
"We put a lot of focus on the game against the Exiles as it's the one that kick-started our international programme.
"But all eyes will now be on the World Cup, and we can't wait."
England face Australia at the Millennium Stadium on October 26, as part of a spectacular double header of matches which also includes Wales against Italy, and the unmissable RLWC2013 Opening Ceremony.
The hosts' campaign continues with a clash against Ireland at the John Smith's Stadium on November 2 and a showdown with Fiji at the KC Stadium on November 9.
