Morley to boost Lions pack
Warrington Wolves partner club Swinton Lions have a secured a coup ahead of tomorrow’s game against North Wales Crusaders in the Northern Rail Cup.
Wolves’ prop Adrian Morley is expected to feature in the Lions’ squad for his return game following an injury spell on the sidelines.
The Wolves’ captain has been out of action since sustaining a bicep injury in round three against Catalan.
The Swinton squad will include a number of well-known Warrington faces as part of the current partnership but there will also be several familiar names in the Crusaders side with 15 club connections from within the playing and coaching staff.
Crusaders coach Clive Griffiths was assistant coach at Warrington and in temporary charge when Brian Johnson left in 1995. His support coaches John Fieldhouse and Chris Middlehurst both pulled on a primrose and blue jersey; international Fieldhouse for the first team and Middlehurst for the academy.
Current Crusaders players who have represented Warrington first team are Stuart Reardon and Jamie Durbin along with former academy representatives in Andy Mousdale, Phil Braddish, Craig White, Kriss Wilkes, Jamie Clarke and Dan Birkett. And it doesn’t stop there as players Billy Sheen, Jono Smith, Jonny Walker and Matt Reid also have Warrington at heart with the Wolves being their Super League of choice.
With the Wolves playing on Friday night and with so many Warrington connections on display there has been no better time to support our partner club than in tomorrow’s game against the Crusaders at Leigh Sports Village, kick-off 3pm. All to pay on the turnstiles: Adults £10, Concessions £5, Under 16s £1
