Morley Backs Prekky In Race To The Grand Final

Wolves' captain Adrian Morley has lent his support to Steve Prescott MBE as he prepares to embark on the Engage Mutual Race to the Grand Final, staged to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Morley has already guided Warrington through a tough Stobart Super League campaign to reach the Grand Final and yet is full of admiration for Prescott as he faces up to the intense 48 hour quadrathon which stands between Steve and Old Trafford.

The former Hull FC, St Helens and Wakefield Fullback, along with 29 others, is taking part in the Engage Mutual Race to the Grand Final, which will see the group swim the Humber, cycle from Hull to Liverpool where they will swim the Mersey before running to Runcorn.

The final leg of the challenge involves canoeing 26 miles up the Liverpool canal to Old Trafford where they will join Sinfield, Morley and thousands of spectators at the showpiece event.

Giving his backing to the challenge, Warrington Wolves' captain Adrian Morley, said: "We've had a tough and challenging season however, what Steve is facing up to is sure to be a massive test.

"He's well known for taking on these tough events and this is no different, I'd like to wish Steve and the rest of the group good luck and I look forward to seeing them at Old Trafford on Saturday."

Amongst the participants taking part alongside Steve is former Wakefield centre Jimmy Gittins who was paralysed playing rugby nine years ago, while former Great Britain international Paul Sculthorpe will also be taking part.

As well as navigating their way from Hull to Manchester by swimming, running, cycling and canoeing the group will also be responsible for safely delivering the Grand Final ball to Old Trafford.

Backed by Engage Mutual, the aim of the challenge is to raise over £30,000 for The Steve Prescott Foundation, which was founded to inspire others and raise money for the, RL Benevolent Fund and The Christie cancer hospital in Manchester, which has supported Prescott since his diagnosis with cancer in 2006.
