Morley and Carvell to leave Wolves at end of season
Warrington Wolves can confirm that both Adrian Morley and Garreth Carvell will leave the club at the end of the current 2013 season.
Prop forward Adrian has been the team's inspirational captain having made an instant impact at the club both on and off the pitch when he joined back in 2007.
Since then he has gone on to make over 160 appearances for the primrose and blue captaining the side to three Challenge Cup final victories at Wembley, a League Leaders shield in 2011 and a Grand Final appearance at Old Trafford last year.
Adrian is well respected and a great advocate for our sport, renowned for his professional manner.
All at the club would like to thank him for his seven-years of sterling service and for the impact he has had on the players coming through the club who have all benefited from his experience. We are now looking forward to the remainder of the season with Adrian at the helm.
Adrian said: "I have had seven great years at Warrington and memories that will last a lifetime. Not only will I leave with winners medals but more importantly with friendships that will last forever. I would like to thank Simon Moran for bringing me to this fantastic club as well as Paul Cullen and Tony Smith for their advice and guidance over the years, I will be eternally grateful to them all. I'd like to thank all the players and staff for their continued support. It has been a massive honour and privilege to captain this great club, every time I have put on the Primrose and Blue I have tried to lead from the front. The supporters have been unbelievable I wish I could personally thank each and every one of them. The decision to leave was not an easy one, but I am very proud of my Salford roots and felt the time was right to finish my career at the club I supported as a young boy. However there is still a lot of Rugby to be played and so I will be more determined than ever to make 2013 a memorable season for the Warrington Wolves."
The club can also confirm that prop forward Garreth Carvell will be leaving at the end of the current season having agreed a deal with Bradford Bulls.
Garreth joined the Wolves back in 2009 and has since cemented his place in the team with 123 appearances to date. Renowned for his barnstorming runs up the middle he has made an impact on the squad over his time here and all at the club would like to thank Garreth for his years of service.
Garreth said: "First of all I'd like to thank all the supporters of Warrington Wolves for making my, and my family's, time here so special. I am sad to leave and expected to see the remainder of my career out at the Halliwell Jones but as one door closes another one opens and now I'm looking forward to a new challenge at the Bradford Bulls. There's still a lot of things I want to achieve here at Warrington and now that my future is secure I will continue to put in 100% for the club and the boys in order to achieve the goals we have set as a group. I have made some amazing friends and will take some fantastic memories with me. Again thank you to everyone."
Wolves' head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith added: "I am delighted for Adrian to be able to finish off such a fantastic career at his hometown club. It's been a bit of a lifelong ambition for him to play for Salford and I know how hard it is for him to leave our club; he has certainly expressed that to all concerned within the club because he's found a great home here and has been a fantastic influence on this club for a number of years. For me personally, as head coach, he's been an outstanding skipper and a real quality person. I've got immense gratitude for his support since I've been here and I think he'll certainly go down as one of the best all-time signings for Warrington. We wish him well for his future endeavour and no doubt Adrian will want to leave the club in the best possible fashion. I'm sure that will be shown by his attitude both on and off the field for the remainder of his time here.
"I'd also like to wish Gaz well. We are grateful for the service he's given to the Warrington club and I'm sure he's also looking forward to finishing off what has been a terrific time at Warrington in the best possible way."
