All about..............Rugby League Development
A key part of the community programme's focus is player development which is led by Alan Kilshaw. Every player wants to represent his or her home town. The Warrington Rugby League Player Development Centres are the first major step on the elite performance pathway.
This is where the future Warrington Wolves players are nurtured and developed with close links in place between the community and the Wolves' youth development and performance departments.
Current Warrington Wolves squad members who came through the programme include: Chris Riley, Tyrone McCarthy, Matty Blythe, Rhys Evans, Lee Mitchell, Gareth O'Brien, James Laithwaite and Ben Evans.
These players have all progressed through the community game in Warrington with the different programmes aiding their Rugby League development and preparing them for the next step into the scholarship, academy and the first team environment.
This season the Development Centres have had, for the first time, an U11s and U12s squad. This is in addition to our usual four age groups (U13, U14, U15 and U16). This ambitious set-up gives 200 players access to specialist coaching and personal development on the performance pathway.
