GB AndersonWarrington Wolves Performance Director, Steve Anderson is considering assisting the GB squad in their preparation ahead of the Ashes Series this autumn. Steve has been in discussions with David Waite and Greg MacCallum about a possible role within the coaching staff. Steve has previously assisted Australian Coach Chris Anderson with the Australian team, between 1998-2000 in which they where Tri-Nations Champions 1998 and World Cup Champions in 2000.Performance Director, Steve Anderson commented on his departure from the Australian team and the possibility of assisting the GB squad."The important thing is that I surrendered the position that I held with the Australian team due to my commitments at Warrington, the geographical situation was virtually impossible to carry on my work with them. It was a great disappointment to me, but with the advent of my unavailability for the Australian side, David Waite and Greg MacCallum made enquiries about my availability to help preparing the GB side. These enquires came a couple of months ago and I have thought seriously about them, especially with David being a personal and professional colleague of mine from Australia. My working with the GB squad is twofold showing my commitment to rugby league internationally and being part of the British system."National Head Coach and Technical Director, David Waite commented, "I'm please that Steve is in the country working with Warrington Wolves. In a positive sense, it is great that he is working within the British system. There has been discussion between myself and Steve about his expertise being used to help prepare the GB squad for the up and coming Ashes Series, but that is the position at present it is stillin the discussion stage."
