Fullerton to take over Academy reins
Warrington Wolves are delighted to announce that Danny Fullerton will take on the role of under 19s Academy head coach with immediate effect.
Danny has worked his way up through the coaching ranks having most recently learnt his trade under the tutelage of previous head coach Gary Chambers. With Gary's recent departure to Swinton Lions Danny will now make the transition from assistant to head coach working alongside colleagues Peter Nicholson and Chris Rudd.
Danny has been involved with the Warrington club since he was part of the reserves in the 2000 season. Following a short stint at Widnes Vikings his rugby playing days were brought to a premature close through injury and Danny decided to remain within the game through the coaching pathway.
Since then Danny has worked from being a Warrington and Cheshire service area assistant coach, through to being a service area head coach, scholarship assistant coach, scholarship head coach, U18 assistant coach, U20 assistant coach and U16 academy head coach. He is now a full time member of the performance team, working in the community coaching primary school children the game.
Danny said: "Firstly I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to further develop myself as a head coach and the opportunity to work with the elite players that Warrington Wolves have developing within their system. I'd also like to thank Gary Chambers for his service to the club and on a personal note too."
He is bursting with enthusiasm about his new role and is relishing the challenges ahead of him. "We have some great players in the U19s who I have worked with for some time now and I am confident about developing them to the next level. I am lucky to have worked closely with some great people in Richard Marshall, Gary Chambers, Brian Chambers, John Bastian and Ben Lazenby who have great knowledge on how to develop players and good people. I also know that with the current structures here at Warrington Wolves I can draw on the knowledge and expertise of Richard, John and Ben as well as Tony (Smith) alongside my own philosophies and experience.
"The transition has been really smooth as the great staff we have in the u19s have all been really supportive and the players have been exceptional; a large number I know very well from when they first came into the Warrington Collegiate sponsored scholarship system at the age of 14.
"The club has some great support mechanisms and partners including the Warrington Wolves Supporters Trust, Vice Presidents Association, University of Chester, Birchwood Community High School, Warrington Collegiate and Matrix Networks to name a few. I am looking forward to working closely with all of these partners to create the best development environment possible for the u19s."
