Fit Club

In conjunction with Total Fitness and the PCT, Warrington Wolves selected 11 supporters from Applications received to be part of the Wolves 'Fit Club'.

The Launch on 2nd March saw the initial 'weigh-in' and a Presentation from the Wolves Player Performance Manager, Dave Elliott, to fully explain the programme.

Over the next 12 weeks, each Fit Club member followed an individually designed programme which helped them to meet their own personal targets. The programme gave them access to the Total Fitness training facilities and nutrition, healthy living and lifestyle advice from the PCT which included cookery workshops and where necessary, guidance on how to stop smoking.

WOLVES FIT CLUB UPDATE 1

In March, 11 Warrington Wolves supporters, weighing a total of 177 stones 6lbs, nominated themselves for help in improving their lifestyles and agreed to take part in the 'Warrington Wolves Fit Club', established in conjunction with Total Fitness and Warrington PCT.

Members are pictured at Total Fitness following one of their regular fitness sessions at the Winwick Road gym.

On 18th April, Jane Russell, the Weight Management Co-ordinator for the NHS Trust, will meet with members to deliver a food workshop which will provide them with help and advice regarding their diet and healthy eating options.

Watch this space, for the next installment!

FIT CLUB UPDATE 2

Our intrepid 'Fit Clubbers' continued on their quest to find physical enlightenment when they attended a Weight Management and Healthy Eating Workshop given by Jayne Russell, Weight Management Coordinator, from North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The 'Fit Clubbers' were instructed in the health benefits of maintaining a healthy weight, what constitutes a healthy diet, the 'balance of good health' and cutting down on fat.

Earlier in the week our group had also taken part in an 'Abs Blast' session at Total Fitness, all came away with aches in muscles they didn't even know they had!!!

Watch this space for pictures of their forthcoming Boxing Session, coached by Damian Ridpath of Phoenix Boxing Club, which is coming up soon.

FIT CLUB UPDATE 3

Our 'Fit Clubbers' continued on their crusade to get in shape by donning boxing gloves and training like 'Rocky', yet thankfully not coming out looking like Sylvester Stallone. Damian Ridpath, of Phoenix Olympic Boxing Centre and the only advanced ABA coach in Cheshire, brought his expert knowledge to the Stadium and put the Fit Clubbers through their paces!

Interested in boxing? Damian, who is based at William Beamont High School gym, is contactable on 07787 531346.

The 'Fit Clubbers' have also had a session with our very own fitness guru Dave Elliott, Player Performance Manager for the Wolves, and also Coach of the Under 18's squad. He enlightened the group on how to do exercise without even leaving the frontroom, and with only a Swiss Ball as equipment!!

FIT CLUB REVIEW

The 'Fit Clubbers' thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity (with hindsight, as some of the memories of the 'Abs Blast' are pretty fresh!), and most have made permanent lifestyle changes which will postively benefit their health. Total Fitness rewarded the participants hard work, and gave them a helping hand for their continuation, with each participant recieving an annual gym pass.

The Warrington Wolves Foundation would like to thank all that was involved in making the Wolves 'Fit Club' possible.
