Currie: The Difference A Year Makes
2012 saw Ben Currie make his first team debut at the age of 17 and go on to make another five appearances at the top flight.
This season Ben has secured himself squad number 24 and is ready to take this opportunity and make his mark.
Ben is currently in Tenerife on his first warm weather training camp with the team.
"I wouldn't have thought all this could have happened in one year. Making my debut was one of the best moments in my life and Tony obviously thought I played well and deserved to get a chance in the top squad."
Ben has benefited greatly since his step up to the first team training squad as the senior players pass down their experience and answer any questions the young players may have which is a great help.
He has already experienced one change in the last year. In the first pre-season run-out against Widnes on Boxing Day he was named in the starting 13 whereas a year earlier he came off the bench for a 10-minute stint. Building on this and looking to the year ahead he said:
"Whether it be the League Leaders, Challenge Cup or Grand Final, I'd like to win something as part of the team. We fell short at the final hurdle last year, hopefully this year I can be more involved and help us go one better."
