Community Outreach
The programme's main aim is to turn the interest that the Primary Link programme created into further and increased opportunities in the rural areas of Warrington to help young people within such recreationally deprived areas, to get more from their involvement in Rugby League through increasing opportunities and participation by creating a positive environment for the development of skills and education.
As well as Philip Williams & Co, Super League and local clubs, Outreach involves the full commitment of the Local Authority, the Local Education Authority and the Warrington Service Area Management Board, as well as Sportsmatch who provide essential funding.
In order to encourage and sustain long-term participation, the Wolves utilise 'clusters' to link Rugby League in schools with the amateur clubs in the town. These links are crucial in encouraging children to continue participating in Rugby League throughout their adult lives.
As it is crucial that The Foundation sustain their work in the schools after the coaching has concluded, there are various activities available for completion including Player Interviews, the ''Newspapers in Schools' partnership with the Warrington Guardian, dancing with the Starlites Dance Team, and projects which take place in The 'WOLF DEN', an educational Learning Suite based at Wilderspool Stadium. Although all of these additional activities promote fun, they are all underpinned by Key Stages 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum.
