Charity Founder Named Woman Of The Year

A charity, with which the club has an affinity, has won a major accolade and been recognised by a nationwide prestigious awards ceremony.

Pat and Dave Rogers from the charity ‘Every Action has a Consequence' addressed the sport's rising stars at this year's Super League Professional Player Induction Programme in August, when they told the emotional story of their son, Adam who was killed from a single punch to the head in 2009.

Now Pat has been named 2012 Lancashire Woman of the Year while the couple's amazing charitable work has been highlighted when they were nominated for a Pride of Britain award which was shown on national TV last month.

The Rogers's charity highlights the consequences of anti-social behaviour for victims and people who carry out violent acts and encourages young people to take responsibility for their action. Earlier this year both Pat and Dave gave a presentation to the Wolves' players about the dangers of 'Nights Out' as the club continues to educate our players on being good citizens as well as good rugby players.

RFL Operations Director Emma Rosewarne said: "We're delighted to hear that Pat has been named Lancashire Woman of the Year.

"Both Pat and Dave delivered a very poignant and touching talk during the PPIP day earlier this year and their story was key in helping our young players realise the consequences of any violent actions.

"The players were all moved by the story of Adam's tragic death and the presentation proved to be a touching part of a very productive and informative induction programme which is designed to equip the game's young players with the information and skills needed to be professional Rugby League player."
