Briers Fit for the SeasonWarrington Wolves Club Captain Lee Briers is aiming to be fit for the first game of the season, v. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Saturday 21st February 2004, kick off 6.05pm.Lee Briers underwent surgery at the end of October to reconstruct his scaphoid of the left wrist, which he originally broke against London Broncos on Sunday 13th July. Lee missed the rest of the season after sustaining the injury. Lee played 35 minutes of the second half of the Round 18 game with the injury scoring his second try of the game and kicking 3 goals. Lee played 15 games in Tetley∆s Super League VIII and scored 7 tries, 64 goals and 4 drop goals with a total of 160 points. Lee Briers commented,"The wrist is coming along well, I have resumed training and I am hoping to be passed as fit for the home opener, but you never want to commit yourself as a definite as anything can happen before the 21st February. It is something I am definitely aiming for, I would be very disappointed not to take part in such an historic game."Head Coach Paul Cullen commented, "We are delighted with Lee∆s progress and we are expecting him back for the home opener."
