Briers Crowned 2010 Lance Todd Winner

Warrington Wolves retained the Carnegie Challenge Cup title at Wembley last weekend with the man of the match award going to Lee Briers.

Rugby League supporters from across the North West were out in force on Wednesday night for the 65th Lance Todd Trophy Gala Dinner held at the Lowry Hotel in Salford.

The Lance Todd Trophy is awarded to the man of the match from the Challenge Cup Final, the Rugby League Writer Association were unanimous in their decision to award the prestigious trophy to long-serving Wolves' star Lee Briers.

Lee attended the evening with his partner and parents. He was also joined at the dinner by last year's winner teammate Michael Monaghan.

Lee said: "Winning the Lance Todd Trophy means a lot to me. When I heard my name called out as the man of the match on Saturday, it was the moment I realised we had won the Challenge Cup.

"It's a great honour to have my name added to the trophy and this is definitely something I will remember for the rest of my life."

Salford City Reds CEO, David Tarry added: "The club take great pride in its association with the Lance Todd Trophy and passes on its congratulation to Lee Briers.

"On behalf of Salford City Reds and The Reds Devils Association, I would like to thank everyone who attended the Lance Todd Trophy Gala Dinner and made it such a memorable occasion.
