Blakeley leaves Wolves
27 year old standoff Steve Blakeley has sensationally quit the Wolves to return to his former club Salford City Reds after less than a third of the season.Blakeley, who came off the bench on Monday against Wigan, has only started four times for the Wolves this season with Lee Briers commanding the main standoff spot. Blakeley is thought to have been unhappy with his lack of first team games and with the World Cup at the end of the season is keen to impress England coach John Kear.Reds Coach John Harvey came in for the standoff to help Salfords mounting injury crisis, after a 42-16 defeat to Challenge Cup finalists Leeds last night.Former Leeds and Halifax stand-off Graham Holroyd, the man signed to replace Blakeley, has yet to play a competitive match after dislocating his shoulder in a pre-season friendly and the Reds are currently also without Darren Brown, Martin Crompton and Craig Murdock.
