Aussies Channel Challenge
Warrington Wolves have been put through their paces with tough training challenges on their pre-season camp in Australia but this week they met an inspirational young man who has set himself an even bigger challenge.
Lochie Hinds, 16, is a normal teenager who has set himself the challenge of crossing the Channel whilst raising money for his favourite charity - the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, who the Wolves' also visited as part of their tour. Achieving this would see him become the youngest Australian male to swim the English Channel.
Lochie's passion for swimming started at the age of three. As a Nipper at five, he found it very frustrating not being able to swim as far as the big kids.
He swims with Aquabliss Performance at Loreto Normanhurst under Brett Winkworth, and last season he competed for Bondi Bathers Surf Lifesaving Club as part of their emerging athlete program under Steve De Lorenzo.
He won his first ocean swim, the Cole Classic, at the age of 9. From here he was hooked.
Lochie is an active Surf Lifesaver and in 2011 at the age of 15, he received his Bronze Medallion.
