Community Learning & Sport Foundation
Making a positive impact through sport
The highly successful Warrington Wolves Community Development Team, winners of The Outstanding Community Programme in Super League for five of the last six years, has now become the Warrington Wolves Community Learning & Sport Foundation.
The Foundation continues to develop and benefit young people, their families and community through providing positive, rewarding experiences.
Significant areas of this work involve the provision of 'Outreach' activities such as the wide-ranging coaching and Assembly programmes delivered into Warrington's 72 Primary and 12 Secondary schools.
The Foundation seeks to help young people get more from their involvement in sport and encourage life-long participation in physical activity. As well as ensuring healthier lifestyles, sport can assist a reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour, improve relations between people of different backgrounds and develop a greater sense of 'community ownership'.
In addition, The Foundation is now also responsible for the day to day running of the unique Community Learning Floor, housed on the first floor of the North Stand at The Halliwell Jones Stadium. The achievements of the Wolves own Playing for Success Centre illustrate that learning within a unique and stimulating sports stadium environment can build confidence and self esteem in addition to providing measurable academic improvements.
The Foundation is a Charitable organisation which now relies on donations, grants and funding from government, local agencies and organisations as well as subscribed activities. These funds are vital to enable the Community Team to not only continue, but to further develop their good work across the town.
The Warrington Wolves Foundation is incredibly proud of their work and there are many opportunities for interested individuals, groups and organisations to help make a difference in developing sport, education and the health and well-being of our community.
Further enquiries on how you or your organisation can become involved should be directed to our Foundation Director, Neil Kelly, on 01925 248894.
