About the Foundation

The excellence of the Warrington Wolves Community programme has been nationally recognised.

Warrington Wolves have held the prestigious Super League Award for the Outstanding Community Programme for the last 3 years.

Much of the Wolves Programme revolves around the delivery of coaching to all of the town's 75 Primary Schools (Primary Link Programme sponsored by Scottish Power and Sportsmatch) and 12 Secondary Schools (Try Hard Programme sponsored by Oakmere and Sportsmatch), along with 5 local special schools. Links have been forged between Amateur Clubs and clusters of local schools and barriers have been broken down within a number of football and rugby union dominated areas.

The Wolves Community Programme has continued to build on its solid foundations and work in partnership with Warrington Borough council to fulfil its Community pledges. High profile companies such as the Cheshire Building Society and Coca-Cola have been recently attracted to the club. The Wolves have now, secured an impressive 4 Sportsmatch Awards.

The result of this activity has been the current boom in Warrington junior Rugby League. The Wolves and pre-match Primary School 7's competitions sponsored by Coca-Cola, attracted a record entry of 32 schools and 800 junior players are affiliated to the towns 8 Amateur Clubs.

Club coaching standards are constantly monitored and self-improvement opportunities for coaches are provided by the Wolves Ed Programme, sponsored by JLJ Holdings and Sportsmatch.

The Wolves Scholarship provides talented players with quality coaching and' development pathways. It has received a huge endorsement as 12 Wolves Scholarship players were selected for National Camp - a larger number than any other Super League Club.

In demonstration of the Club's commitment to equality, the Wolves have launched an innovative scheme entitled 'Scottish Power Sportsmatch Girls Play League', designed to address the problem of teenage female non-participation in sport.

The Wolves community initiatives are not purely centred around playing Rugby League. The Playing For Success Centre, sponsored by Ikea and the Cheshire Building Society, is designed to provide children with a unique and stimulating learning experience in an environment far removed from a standard classroom, while the Wolves Attendance Project, sponsored by BNFL, shares the same base and is specifically aimed at improving the attendance records of pupils by raising their self-esteem.

The Wolves Community Game Plan, is "To have an active development programme, enabling Rugby League to make a positive impact on Community file."

WOLFed

WOLFed energetically promotes accreditation of administrators and coaches by ensuring that development courses are readily available for all. Through the proper education of administrators and coaches, the programme ensures quality opportunities, which will play a fundamental part in the systematic growth of the grass roots game in Warrington. From Parents to Teachers, all are catered for in a positive and friendly manner of learning.

WOLFmark

Sports clubs make provision for our young people and make an enormous contribution to the social and sporting life of our nation. The Wolves WOLFmark, safe, effective,' child friendly scheme is a nationally adopted set of standards from Sport England's Clubmark.

It will enable parents, carers and young people to quickly recognise a Club that is committed to providing a quality experience. All our amateur clubs have adopted the scheme and are working towards the set criteria

Wolves Coaching Scholarship

The Wolves, in partnership with their local colleges, offer sports students a chance of joining their Primary LINK scheme with a coaching scholarship.

Coaching Awards are run at the college and students are selected to join the team. This gives the students valuable coaching experience and provides them with good knowledge of sports development.

Scholarship 12-16

The Warrington Wolves Scholarship Programme is about developing our future. All players will be put through a variety of training sessions that will hopefully improve their rugby and education career. Topics that will be covered are; skills, conditioning, injury prevention, career profiling, diet and nutrition, drugs and alcohol awareness, goal setting and rugby education.

Academy U18s

The Academy is the platform on which the club hopes to kick-start the new breed of professional Rugby League players at the Wolves. Like the Scholarship, players will be put through a variety of sessions, but with more intensity and pressure. These players will be in competition against the best in the country, so it gives the coaching staff at the club an opportunity to witness them at a high standard.

Representative Teams

The Service Area, as it is known is a programme run in conjunction with the local Council, The Rugby Football League and Warrington Wolves. These players are selected as the elite performers in their age bracket, and play against different Service Areas throughout the country. Teams are run for the 12-15 age group.

Wolves First Team players agree with the Community Development

Mike Wainwright: "The highly established community programme at the Wolves is one of the reasons why I signed with the club. Rugby League is a short career and I'm looking to progress in to working in the community programme coaching."

Gary Hulse: "I am currently involved in the club's Playing for Success' programme as a mentor I encourage children to learn through their interest in the sport. Community programmes like this one are an essential part of linking education to sport."
